Working at ISU
The International School of Ulaanbaatar is a non-profit, PreK-G12, English-language, international school. We are Mongolia's only IB Continuum school, offering the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), and the Diploma Programme (DP). We are also a founding member of ACAMIS, and also an active member of EARCOS.
ISU teachers are fully committed to our Vision and Mission. They teach the whole child, understanding that academic success is inextricably interwoven with healthy social and personal development. Our teachers typically come to us as seasoned practitioners. These people are true colleagues among their peers, collaborating with them for the success of all students, and using inclusion models to meet their varied linguistic (EAL), interpersonal and academic needs. ISU teachers engender excellent relationships with all constituents, they are inspiring in their practice and they are open to continuously improving their pedagogy. They also subscribe to the belief that technology is a tool that should be effectively integrated into classroom practice.

Working at the International School of Ulaanbaatar has been a life-changing experience for me. First and foremost, it is important that you can find challenges, opportunities, and growth in the workplace.

Mongolia is a place like no other, a left-field place to live and work, and possibly a place out of your comfort zone. But you will be rewarded with experiences that will challenge the way you see the world, and change your life forever.

ISU provides some of the best spaces that I have ever worked in as an educator. In the department, we are very well resourced with learning materials and furniture that easily enable practical and collaborative learning opportunities.

I am happy to be a part of the ISU community. Because it is a small school, I have been able to get to know everyone at some level. Professionally, I appreciate the small class sizes. The students are respectful and friendly.

My first impressions, and a lasting one at that, of ISU is that it is one big family of very friendly people who are always willing and ready to lend a helping hand. From helping with translations, to inviting me home during festivities.
Carolyn HillPYP Teacher
I am in my third year at ISU, I have taught Grade 5 and Grade 1. I enjoy the trust given by management in regards to my teaching and the general respect of me as a professional. This is a happy place to work for me.
Employee Screening & Child Protection
ISU is committed to the well-being of its students. Our mission is to provide them with excellence in international education. Ensuring their protection is one of our utmost priorities as evidence supports that children do not thrive in perilous environments. We believe that every student has the right to be protected and to develop to their fullest potential. We want our students to enjoy an education free of fear, in a supportive environment.
ISU uses safe recruitment practices for the purposes of child protection – we verify the identity, the credentials and the work and criminal histories of all prospective employees.
