Community and service
The ISU mission is to

Community and service is a requirement for all students in the MYP programme at ISU and is one of the ways that we strive to fulfill our mission. In Grade 6, 7 and 8 community and service takes place through the curriculum and through a homeroom project. For students in Grades 9 and 10 they are expected to take part in student initiated activities and fulfill six learning outcomes over the course of each year. ISU students are involved in numerous projects that include:
- Teaching art at a local orphanage
- English teaching to disadvantaged students
- Running after school activities for primary school children
- Roots and shoots
- Clean-ups of local hiking trails
