Language A1 Monoglian HL and SL

IB Diploma Program Language A1 Mongolian is a first language Mongolian course that follows the aims and objectives of the IBO Diploma Program. The course is designed to develop the students’ writing, speaking, and analytical skills concerning literature, as well as develop an appreciation for literature through finding and creating connections between literature and life.

Over 80 different Language A1s have been offered for examination through the IBO policy of mother tongue entitlement for its international candidature, and Mongolian language is one of these 80 languages. ISU is unique in that we are the only school in the world to offer IBDP Mongolian A1 as a classroom course.

At ISU, the Grade 11 students studying Mongolian A1 cover the following works:

  • Chimeegui Khashgiraan (B.Shuudertsetseg)
  • Selected poems from “Setgel ruu shagaigch Tuund” (G. Ayurzana)
  • Madome Bovary (F.Gustave)
  • Manai yeiin baatar (Lermontov M.)
  • Etseg huvguud (Turgenev I.)
  • One Hundred Years of Solitude (Marquez)

The Grade 12 students study the following works:

  • Selected poems (G. Ayurzana, L. Ulziitugs)
  • Selected short stories (G. Ayurzana, L. Uzliitugs)
  • Tungalag Tamir (Ch. Lodoidamba)
  • Shine baishind (D. Namdag)
  • Uchirtai gurvan tolgoi (D.Natsagdorj)
  • Hairiig hairla (D. Batbayar)
  • Bi endees yavahgui (E. Oyun)
  • Romeo and Juliet (W. Shakespeare)
