The International School of Ulaanbaatar (ISU) is a private, non-profit, secular, co-educational school, which began operation in September 1992 to meet the educational needs of the growing international community.
Permission to open the school was granted by the Mongolian Ministry of Education in May 1992. The Ministry has fully participated in the development of the school. In December 1997, the Mongolian Ministry of Education certified the International School of Ulaanbaatar. In 2003, the International School of Ulaanbaatar received full accreditation from NEASC & CIS and authorization from the IBO. ISU is one of only 141 full three programme IB World Schools worldwide. Enrollment: ISU currently has 355 students representing 27 nations. There are 205 students in the Primary School, 150 students in the Secondary School.
Curriculum: The International School of Ulaanbaatar seeks to offer the best educational system possible, based on an international curriculum. For this reason the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IBPYP), Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) and Diploma Programme (IBDP) have been implemented.
